From popular game Final Fantasy XIII-2, this is Final Fantasy XIII-2 : Lightning Play Arts Kai Action Figure. Based on Final Fantasy XIII-2, this figure of Lightning, the mysteriously missing hero of Final Fantasy XIII, stands 8 1/4″ tall and features a detailed sculpt taken directly from Square Enix’s CGI designs.
Lightning (ライトニング Raitoningu) is a 21 year-old human, a former Guardian Corps soldier, and the main protagonist of Final Fantasy XIII. She is 171 cm tall (5’7″).Lightning wields a gunblade called the Blazefire Saber, known as Blaze Edge (ブレイズエッジ Bureizu Ejji) in the Japanese version, which is a combination of a gun and a sword, one collapsing into the other. She can also manipulate gravity with a device on her thumb (though due to Sazh’s interference, this device becomes damaged). Born as Claire Farron, or Éclair Farron (エクレール・ファロン Ekurēru Faron) in the original Japanese language version, she lost her parents when she was 15 years old. Claire took on her codename of Lightning to help her younger sister Serah, only to cause tensions between them as a result.
Soon after, she joined the Guardian Corps, rising to the rank of Sergeant. However, when Serah becomes a l’Cie and captured by the Pulse fal’Cie Anima, Lightning resigns from the Guardian Corps in order to find her. Though she manages to save Cocoon’s people and be freed of her l’Cie brand by, the act of defeating Orphan causes a rift to swallow Lightning and bring her to Valhalla during the events of Final Fantasy XIII-2, remaining there as Etro’s protector when Caius attacks the city. Meeting Noel, Lightning asks him to find Serah in the past and bring her to Valhalla, giving him Mog to act as Serah’s lucky charm.
In Final Fantasy XIII: Episode I, an epilogue chapter set after Final Fantasy XIII, Lightning leaves to find a way to save Fang and Vanille from their fate. Eventually, she finds herself in a dark void of sorts but decides to keep moving forward.
A direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII entitled Final Fantasy XIII-2, follows Lightning after she disappears from Grand Pulse with only Serah aware of the truth while the others believed her to have died or sacrificed herself after the events of the first game. In reality, Lightning was whisked away to Valhalla, the Invisible World beyond time, as a direct result of Etro’s intervening to release her and the other l’Cie from crystal stasis. In turn, this causes a Paradox where Lightning does not exist after the Day of Ragnarok. See details
